Foodie Files: Blackbird Public House
Brunch is my favorite meal of the day. Fortunately, it's Denver's too since there are tons of options. This week: Blackbird Public House. An adorable spot located on South Downing St that I've frequently passed by. The restaurant and bar is quite spacious and has areas to accommodate larger groups. I love the exposed brick and wood combo throughout.
Brunch must start with fun libations. I grabbed a pineapple mimosa while watching some March Madness. Look at the bubbles!
Their menu had a ton of your brunch favorites, often with unique twists. For instance, the cauliflower hash sounds quite interesting. I ordered the waffles with strawberries and Grand Marnier Cream. YES! Though I love my waffles, the highlight of the meal was the bacon. When I placed the order, the kind waitress asked, "Regular or candied?" Is that even a true choice? CANDIED! It was divine with hints of brown sugar, it elevated the breakfast to the next level.
Another perk of Blackbird's brunch...$1 oysters on Sundays!!! I had to indulge in just a few. As you can see, they were plump, juicy, and well-shucked.
Overall, I enjoyed everything, their prices were super affordable and reasonable for brunch, and all of their staff were wonderful. I would definitely return to try other brunch items, and I notice they hold various several-course food events that seem worth checking out.
