Foodie Files: Los Chingones
Happy Margarita Day!!! It was a cold, snowy and icy, Thursday night, but that did not stop people from celebrating this important holiday.
I saw it was National Margarita Day and decided to head to Los Chingones in DTC to pay my respects to the holiday. I have been wanting to try Los Chingones for a while and this was the perfect time. Unfortunately, everyone else in town agreed...it was PACKED!!! Both bars and all their tables were full. My hopes of quickly grabbing a drink and taco at the bar, weren't happening. While I waited, I was able to order a Blueberry Pomegranate Margarita from a bartender. OMG!!! Hands down my favorite margarita in town. Delicious fruit and citrus flavors and plenty of tequila. It's a must-order.
Luckily the staff were super helpful in getting me set-up at the taco bar. Now, I'm starving. I quickly order the Los Chingones Style guacamole. This guac was unbelievably good! In your standard guac was crumbled chorizo and it was topped with pickled jalapenos and cotija cheese. Honestly, this could have been my dinner, but I happily took some home for snack the next day.
Next, the tacos. I ordered a steak, fish, and cotija (for your vegetarians, it had pinto beans, corn, slaw, and cilantro). ALL of them were great! Very flavorful and the right amount of spice. Although they were street taco sized, they were stuffed. I can't wait to try some of there other options since they have 10 options for tacos, along with enchiladas and quesadillas on their menu.
Fantastic experience at Los Chingones-DTC. I will be here frequently since its not too far from where I reside. Good food, drinks, staff, service, and atmosphere. This won't be the only time there will be a crowd.
