2018 Golden Globes Recap
Ahh, the beginning of awards season. Time to hear about some movies that have yet to been widely released become winners...
As many know, tonight was the Time's Up legal initiative. Therefore, 99% of the women attending the show wore all-Black suits and gowns. Bravo to all the women for their solidarity! Viola Davis' afro won the night for me! Per usual, here is our slideshow of our favorites:
Now for the winners...Here are our favorites:
- Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series (Drama): Elizabeth Moss for The Handmaid's Tale
- Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series (Drama): Sterling K. Brown for This Is Us (His first Golden Globe win! He is also the first Black man to win in this category. SMH!)
- Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series (Musical or Comedy): Aziz Ansari for Master of None
- Cecil B. DeMille Award: Oprah Winfrey (Her speech was phenomenal!)
Honorable mention...The Queen of Shade Award goes to Natalie Portman!!! For calling out the all male Best Director nominees in one of the categories.
I can't say much about some of the other winners since I, Tonya and Lady Bird just arrived at theaters near me and I haven't had a chance to see either of them. Congrats to them!
Although there were some snubs (Get Out and Daniel Kaluuya), the message was clear tonight: Time's Up!
