Grammy Awards 2018

Grammy Awards 2018

We have the 60th Annual Grammy Awards!!! The Grammys can be hit or miss, but it's still a great time to see what's hot in music from year to year. Tonight was a very special night were all the nominees for Record of the Year were People of Color! Also, Ms. Janelle Monae won the night without even being nominated for an award! Time's up!

Per usual, we love us some fashion. However, we didn't have many favorites during this award show. Yikes! Here are the lucky few:

Since the fashion was slacking tonight, let's pay honor to King Bey's pre-Grammy and Grammy fashions! She can teach these folks a thing or two...

Now for the actually ceremony. What a year!!! Our favorite winners include:

  • Best Traditional R&B Performance: Redbone by Childish Gambino
  • Best Urban Contemporary Album: Starboy by The Weeknd
  • Best R&B Performance: That's What I Like by Bruno Mars
  • Best R&B Song: That's What I Like by Bruno Mars
  • Song of the Year: That's What I Like by Bruno Mars
  • Best R&B Album: 24K Magic by Bruno Mars
  • Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical: 24K Magic by Bruno Mars
  • Record of the Year: 24K Magic by Bruno Mars
  • Album of the Year: 24K Magic by Bruno Mars
  • Best Rap Performance: HUMBLE. by Kendrick Lamar
  • Best Rap Song: HUMBLE. by Kendrick Lamar
  • Best Music Video: HUMBLE. by Kendrick Lamar
  • Best Rap/Sung Performance: LOYALTY. by Kendrick Lamar ft. Rihanna
  • Best Rap Album: DAMN. by Kendrick Lamar
  • Best New Artist: Alessia Cara (I wanted SZA to win, but still love some Alessia)
  • Best Pop Solo Performance: Shape of You by Ed Sheeran
  • Best Comedy Album: The Age of Spin & Deep In The Heart of Texas by Dave Chappelle
  • Best Music Film: The Defiant Ones

King Kunta aka Kung Fu Kenny aka Kendrick Lamar snatched all his well-deserved rap awards! Bruno Mars shut down the Top 3 honors!  I'm also Redbone got the credit it deserved as Childish shut down the airwaves in 2017. Although SZA did not receive any awards, she shut it down with her flawless performance of one of our favorite tracks, Broken Clocks. She has plenty of time left in her career to return. It was a 4:44 shut out, but I'm not mad. Solid year for hip hop and R&B overall!
