Chantee's Favorites - Fall Edition
The weather is changing. It's some bullshit. I hate the cold. It's unnatural. Unfortunately, living in the northeast of America means four seasons. On the bright side, these beauty favorites will get you through the roughest of months. Let's get into it.
If you don’t know about this product, you should. I was introduced to this product around February of this year by my friend Starr (shout out to @Blacksherebeauty on IG) when we were at Mardi Gras. After she gave me a sample, I was hooked. If you are a person that struggles with dry skin and hands year-round, but especially in the winter months, you need this in your arsenal. With beeswax as its base, the Skin Food is packed with amazing ingredients like viola tricolor, calendula and chamomile to create an awe-inspiring moisturizer that I can’t live without. You can find it on Amazon but I usually go pick up my refills at Whole Foods.
This little gem I found while perusing the rabbit hole that is Amazon.com. I knew Vichy had good reviews and would occasionally see their products in Target or other drugstores but never really thought about trying it until I saw this really convincing review for this product. I’m so glad I purchased! It’s a really good serum and hyaluronic acid is something that I like to use in order to help my other serums and moisturizers last longer throughout the day and night. Hyaluronic acid is special because it can hold 1,000 times its weight in water so adding it to your beauty regimen will insure peak hydration during the fall and winter season.
This has to be one of my top three night creams on the market right now. I particularly like using this during the fall and winter months because it is extremely hydrating. It’s not a new product, but I just get so excited about using it during this time of year because I know I’m going to wake up with the most supple and soft skin. Algenist products are known for using alguronic acid which is a powerful anti-aging ingredient that sets them apart from other brands. I jumped on this brand because I was experiencing dry patches all over my face and didn’t know what to do. Sephora saved my life that day and I haven’t looked back. Now it’s not a cheap product. It does retail for $94 but it lasts me for about three or four months so it’s doable if you plan for it. So worth it!
I was in the market for a new body wash since my previous body wash decided to become problematic AF. I stumbled across this gem in Target and fell immediately in love. I’ve always been a big fan of Method’s cleaning products so it was pretty natural for me to gravitate to the body wash so easily. Method prides themselves on trying to be as environmentally conscious as they can while still giving you really rich and well formulated products. The smell is amazing. It takes me all the way back to Caribbean vacations and complete indulgence. I highly recommend giving this body wash a try. They also have other scents that I will try in the future but right now I’m obsessed with the coconut milk.
Since the seasons are changing, it’s about time to put this hair away in protective styles for the next six months. Anytime I install a crochet or get individual braids done these products has absolutely saved my life and my scalp. Cantu products are historically amazing and I’ve been using them for years as more women of color are trying to really protect their natural hair. Synthetic hair and protective styles can really do a number on your scalp and cause irritation and itchiness since your hair is typically cornrowed down and not able to be manipulated on a daily basis. The key to these gifts of science is the apple cider vinegar. It is a natural clarifier for the scalp and helps keep your hair from accumulating any excess product buildup. These products are essential to maintaining the style and the integrity of your hair follicles. Keep them on your shelf for easy access because you will need them!
