Out on The Town: Denver International Wine Festival

Out on The Town: Denver International Wine Festival

What a Friday night! I was able to partake in the 13th Annual Denver International Wine Festival's Grand Tasting! The 3-day fest is one of the premier food and wine events in the country! The Grand Tasting was held at the Denver/Westminster Marriott a featured hundreds of wines from all around the globe. They also held an auction in which proceeds went to There With Care, a charity helping children diagnosed with critical illnesses and their families.

I grabbed my inscribed tasting glass and headed right to the cheese tables! Satori, a Wisconsin-based company, had a table with about 10 different cheeses to sample. My favorites? The Chipotle, the Black Pepper, and the Espresso. Yum, yum, and yum! If you're making charcuterie boards for your holiday parties, pick these up!

Now onto the wines! The ballroom housed probably 200+ wines from regions all over the globe. Sorry, I didn't get to sample all of them, but here are few...

Here were some of my favorites of the night:

The Napa Valley Quilt Cabernet: Probably my favorite cabernet ever. It was so smooth with a deep raspberry flavor.

Forgeron Cellars Chardonnay: When you have a sign that says Wine of the Year, I go in skeptical. Welp, I'm a believer. It was one of the best Chardonnay's I've tasted.

7 Moons Red Blend: A rich and smooth red blend. The vendor said it's super affordable with an approximately $15 price point!

Dolca: For those who love sweet wines, this one is for you! It had a clean honey flavor--very similiar to a mead.

Boulder Spirits Pumpkin King: Okay, it's not a wine, but Pumpkin King was fantastic! I saw it on IG a few weeks ago and was intrigued. It is a pumpkin pie cordial and MAN, it really did taste like pumpkin pie. I will be picking this up for family for the holidays.

Overall, I had a great time. It was an excellent venue and unlike other food and beverage festival, not too crowded. The selection of wines were the best I've ever had at similar-type of events. I will be participating more next year!

Did you attend any of the events of the Denver International Wine Festival? If you were at the Grand Tasting, which wines did you enjoy? All of them? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
