Foodie Files: Avanti Food and Beverage
Located in LoHi, Avanti is housed in this beautiful two story building with an upstairs patio space. You may want to arrive early to find street parking, but they also have a complimentary valet available. Inside is gorgeous industrial architecture paired with lounge areas that make the space feel cozy. With the open design, it doesn't feel crowded and there is plenty of space for groups to sit and dine. Downstairs were six different eateries vary in types of food—burgers to arepas to pizza and pasta.
I wandered upstairs where there were two more eateries and a bar. I loved the upstairs area because of the open seating, lounge chairs, another bar, and a beautiful patio which overlooks the city (*Note: Probably a great place to hang out during the summer months). After looking at the menus, I decided to try Souk Shawarma and order their “Half and half” pita wrap—half chicken, half falafel. The server asked if I would like “The Works.” Sure! Go big or go home! It was served with lettuce, tomatoes, a couple different sauces, and a yummy pickle. The wrap was a hefty size with good servings of both the moist chicken and falafel. I would definitely order again!
So, I’m a glutton and was still a bit hungry. I went back downstairs and tried The Regional. The Regional serves up Southern-Style foods, including a fried chicken sandwich, trout, and shrimp and grits. I ordered some Cajun-grilled oysters and curly fries (my fav!). The oysters were perfectly grilled with just enough spice and complimented well with my Bloody Mary at the bar.
In sum, I really like Avanti Food and Beverage. Again, it’s a great place to take friends and guests because you’ll find something for everyone’s taste. It also serves as a good after work or weekend hang out with all of the available seating which would accommodate to various group sizes. I look forward to going back!
