Roll On: December 23, 2016
We’re rolling on to the holidays!!!
Awards season is upon us and this year we had some incredible TV, movies, and music.
The Critics’ Choice Awards aired last week and typically serves as a preview for the Oscars. Queen Viola Davis won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fences. The wonderful Mahershala Ali won Best Supporting Actor for Moonlight and the cast of Moonlight also took home Best Acting Ensemble. Reminder: Check out our Moonlight review if you have been wanting to see it. In a pleasant surprise, Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool took home comedy awards.
Nominations for the Golden Globes were announced. Again, Moonlight and Fences are receiving the acclaim they deserve. In TV-land, some of my favs—Westworld, Atlanta, Black-ish, The Night Of, and Issa Rae for Insecure—received nods.
Speaking of the wonderful Viola Davis, it was announced this week she is receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Well-deserved.
For the Grammy’s, some of our favorite albums, Lemonade, Coloring Book, Anti, The Life of Pablo, We Are King, were nominated. Our girl, King Bey, clocked in a whopping 9 nominations. Don’t Hurt Yourself even earned a Best Rock Performance nod. #BlackGirlMagic
Shocker from the beauty world…Bobbi Brown is leaving her company! I have always appreciated her being inclusive in her color selections. I hope her next venture is just as succesful.
There were a lot of great LGBTQ moments in 2016. Here are some highlights.
I arrived home and my Dad had my favorite Pennsylvania Dutch Eggnog. If you haven’t had it, try it! It’s in selected spirits stores throughout the country.
Lastly, need to slay your sleigh? Watch this cute Santa video.
That’s our pre-holiday roll. Happy holidays!!!
