Foodie Files: Barbuzzo's Cruffin!!!!
Do you like nice things? Do you continuously practice self-care? Then you should've been in Philly on October 29th standing in line with me and a hundred other people waiting to experience the glory that is the Cruffin.
More specifically, 13th and Chestnut. Even more specifically, the Salted Caramel Budino Stuffed Cruffin at Barbuzzo.
If you haven't figured out by now, a Cruffin is a hybrid pastry consisting of a croissant and a muffin. Although I'm not sure of its original origins, Barbuzzo has done something amazing by perfecting not only the recipe of the crunchy and buttery outer shell but the luscious filling that is the right balance of salty and sweet.
Can we talk about this for a second? Why is Barbuzzo fucking with my emotions? Do you see this filling? Do you see the smooth consistency that caresses your tongue like a glass of good feelings and morals?
I can't stress enough how phenomenal this pastry was. It's seriously may be one of the best morning pastries I've ever had. Period. They completely sold out within an hour Friday morning but they baked twice as many on Saturday and I'm sure they sold out shortly after I left. Who knows when they're going to bring this back again but, if you were one of the fortunate ones, thank Barbuzzo for making our lives just a little better.
