Foodie Files: D Bar

I heard about D Bar from seeing other bloggers post pictures on their Instagram page. Their beautifully creative desserts had me at hello. I finally had a sweet tooth one evening and knew D Bar is where I needed to be.

The décor is super cute and inviting. I requested to sit at the dessert bar where the pastry chef was making all the deliciousness right in front of my eyes. D Bar had an extensive wine and cocktail menu. All of their cocktails had fun names—I selected the Our Dear Mrs. Smith which was a vodka martini made with fresh squeezed Granny Smith apples! Granny Smith apples were the only ones I would eat as a child; thus, this cocktail was perfect for me.

First, I needed a quick bite to each. I ordered the Dressed Avocado salad with added shrimp. Heaping portions of avocado and shrimp on top of a spring mix with a light citrus vinaigrette dressing was delicious and satisfying.

Next, it was time for dessert. There were so many options. I couldn’t choose just one! I watched the pastry chef make several which confused me even more. There was only one suitable option—the 3 course dessert! This option allowed you to choose one dessert off the menu, and the other two desserts were the chefs choice. I selected the crème brulee as my chosen pick.

Course 1: Vanilla ice cream with a stuffed apple pastry, garnished with caramel sauce and chocolate chips. Course 2: Crème brulee. Course 3: Strawberry Bon Bon, chocolate torte, and cookie. Everything was spectacular!!!! I can’t choose a favorite because each was so decadent. And yes, I bit the head off the gingerbread man first.

I couldn’t go home empty handed. I stop by their sweets shop and purchased more of the strawberry bon bons for myself, and a couple of bon bon variety packs for some co-workers as holiday/thank you gifts. D Bar is the perfect place for groups, birthday parties, children, and definitely a date night—There were several couples and first date folks there bonding over sweets. The food menu also looks worth sampling. See you in 2017, D Bar!
